Shandong Engineering Machinery Co. Ltd manufactured SEM branded wheel loaders in China for over 50 years and became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Caterpillar in 2008. In 2014, the SEM Company transitioned to Caterpillar (Qingzhou) Ltd. and continues to produce SEM branded products. As one important strategic utility product brand of Caterpillar, SEM has its own brand proposition, distribution channels, marketing strategy and product support.
To provide marketing support to Caterpillar’s SEM division covering the Middle East and Africa regions across Caterpillar’s core products. The incumbent will develop sales and marketing skills from the various divisions of the marketing organization who will provide hands on training for the particular expertise of that division.
You will report to one of the section supervisor in the assigned division.
Assignments and measurement of progress will be the responsibility of the supervisor. The incumbents will be expected to contribute to the division’s objectives, emphasis will be on developing skills and experience in objective setting, project planning, deadline responsibility, budget and cost control as well as implementation and follow-up methods. Because of this being the first work assignment, you will receive a substantial amount of guidance and direction from the Supervisor and other staff personnel in completing projects.
You will learn these skills by working within the various divisions:
Sales Development – Analyze sales opportunities; develop product comparisons; review pricing practices, product improvement programs, new product information releases, competitive information releases, various communications media, etc; and make product presentations.
Marketing Support – Analyze company’s trade advertising as seen in news service articles, publicity and product literature. Assist senior staff in advertising campaign researching and field story development, understand company trademarks, etc. Become skilled at the development and execution of dealer sales seminars regionally involving product, application and sales skills. Also assist in developing and producing sales support material on product, competition, application and support programs.
The incumbents will rotate through any of the above areas in their developmental phase and may be selected for special assignment at a dealer location to gain additional experience.
Travel Requirements: 25 – 35%
- Requires a marketing or engineering degree or the equivalent.
- 3 – 5 years of relevant industry experience, preferably from HEAVY MACHINERY
- Fluency another language such as French, Arabic, and/or Mandarin Chinese. English is mandatory. Please state clearly on your resume which of these languages you are fluent in.
- Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite such as Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, and Premiere would be preferred.
- Experience in Social Networks such as Linkedin, Facebook, Instagram, and WeChat
- Knowledge and experience of supporting and partnering a Dealer Network would be preferred
- Fluency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Powerpoint, and Word
